Danny Reeves usually had a big smile, a freckle-faced farm boy from Georgia who played so well at running back that the Cowboys could afford to keep Mel Renfro on defense. Bad knees cut his playing career short but a brilliant football mind kept him in the NFL, first as Tom Landry's assistant and later as the head coach of the Denver Broncos.
